BINARY FISSION & CONJUGATION
Binary Fission is a method of asexual reproduction. This process involves splitting the DNA of a parent cell creating two identical daughter cells. Conjugation is a sexual reproduction, it involves the direct transfer of genetic material between two bacterial cells that are temporarily joined. Similarities: -Both reproduce -Both replicate DNA -Maybe Plasmids -Gene Transfer -Produce offspring Differences: Binary Fission- -Asexual Reproduction-produced from one parent -Produces identical offsprings -Doesn't need mate -Change in environment effects all -1 cell can continue species survival -No F-factor -Reproduces quickly Conjugation- -Sexual Reproduction-produced from two parents -Produces different offsprings-genetic diversity -Needs a mate -Change in environment doesn't effect all -1 cell cannot continue species survival -Has F-factor -Reproduces slowly |
